Hand arm vibration training course is for anybody who uses vibrating tools and equipment in the workplace. This online course will make employees and employers aware of the long-term damage to health that vibration can cause. This HAVS course also details how to minimise the health risks from vibration.
The course covers Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) that can cause the health conditions of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). This vibration training course also covers the lesser known risk of Whole Body Vibration (WBV), the symptoms and how to reduce the risks from HAV, HAVS, CTS and WBV.
To reduce the risk from vibration two values must be understood. The daily exposure limit value (ELV) and the daily exposure action value (EAV). ELV and EAV are both covered with worked examples.
This Hand Arm Vibration training course is a general awareness course for employers and workers in the construction and trades industry who use tools and equipment that produce vibration. The course is designed to satisfy the training and awareness requirements of relevant legislation and regulations, including The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Meets the training requirements of HSE, HSG 17, CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine, Exor, SMAS and other SSIPs.
This vibration awareness training course aims to give candidates a good understanding of what hand arm vibration (HAV) and whole body vibration (WBV) are. There is an overview of the regulations that apply, the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.
The health risks of HAV and WBV and the associated symptoms of hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) such as, vibration white finger, nerve damage, muscle weakening and joint damage. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is also covered and the less obvious effects of WBV.
This vibration course covers exposure action values (EAVs) and exposure limit values (ELVs) and other factors needed to carry out a Vibration Risk Assessment. How risks from HAV and WBV can be controlled by elimination at source, choosing the right equipment, maintenance and limiting exposure. Plus when health surveillance may be needed.
After completing the course, candidates will:
The course comprises 2 interactive modules and a final assessment. Module 1 covers types of vibration and effects on health and the legal and regulatory guidelines. Module 2 describes the risks and control measures. Links to recommended reading and additional resources are provided within the training modules. Duration
It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.

The Vibration safety awareness certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for any health and safety training. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend most re-training is done every 3 years.
All of our courses, systems and services have been registered to the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. Quality Management Systems Ltd (QMS) made this prestigious award to Commodious in January 2018. This gives assurance that the training and assessment was completed with a quality registered organisation.
