This online course discusses the requirements of legislation such as the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 and how the requirements relate to people who may occasionally work on premises such as schools or care homes and where vulnerable groups are present.
It is aimed at trades and general contractors who may have to work near or around vulnerable people as defined in the 2006 Safeguarding Act. It includes information on the Disclosure Barring Service and an understanding of appropriate behaviour when working near or around a vulnerable group. Plus TIPS for how to plan work in care homes, schools and other places where vulnerable people may be present.
Safeguarding is a term used to denote measures to protect the health, well-being and human rights of individuals, which allow people, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.
This is covered by legislation in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
There are simple protocols when working on sites where vulnerable groups are present that should be adhered to.
This online course describes these protocols and is suitable for anyone who occasionally works on sites where vulnerable groups are present for example working at a school or at a nursing/care home.
This online course would fall into the category of a General Health and Safety Training course that Safety trainers would find useful to train relevant staff and employees who come into contact with vulnerable groups.

The course comprises 1 interactive module and a final assessment. Links to recommended reading and additional resources may be provided within the training modules. These links are not mandatory and will not be tested for in the final assessment.
Duration
It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.
Assessment
All candidates must complete a multiple choice assessment after working through the training material. The candidate will be asked 16 multiple choice questions, randomly chosen from a larger question pool, and need to answer a minimum of 12 correctly to pass. Candidates will be given instant feedback after completing the assessment stating whether they have passed or failed. The assessment can be re-taken as many times as is required to pass at no additional cost.
Please note: this course is an awareness course for workers who need to be aware of safeguarding regulations and how to go about their tasks around children and vulnerable people. If a Safeguarding course is required for actually working with children and vulnerable adults then this is available here.
Successful candidates will receive a CPD Certificate and 0.5 CPD Credits.
