Health and Safety law and the HSE requires you to take reasonable measures to protect everyone in your workplace from harm. In particular, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 legally require employers to identify the hazards in their workplace and put in place measures to control the health and safety risks they pose.
A key part of protecting your workforce and users is completing a risk assessment. The five step risk assessment process involves identifying the hazards associated with a specific task or working environment, evaluating the risk and their potential to cause harm and deciding on suitable and sufficient control measures. Certain risks may require a dedicated type of risk assessment, such as a fire risk assessment or COVID-19 risk assessment.
This workplace risk assessment course will cover how to do a risk assessment, and is suitable for anyone who is responsible for managing health and safety at work. It is also ideal for anyone who works in a high-risk environment and needs to understand how risks are assessed and how they can protect themselves from harm at work.
Meets the requirements of HSE, CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine, Exor, SMAS and other SSIPs.
Assessing the risks present in your workplace is an essential part of any safety management system and can help to prevent your employees and the people on your premises from experiencing harm. This course provides an introduction to risk assessments, and will help you to understand how to write these assessments for your workplace and use them for risk management. This is important in order to protect your workforce and comply with health and safety law, such as the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
Recording your findings from a risk assessment is a legal requirement if you employ five or more people, but is strongly recommended for organisations of any size. A simple risk assessment template to help you do this is used as part of this course.
