This Level 2 Food Hygiene course is designed for all food handlers in retail businesses. Maintaining good food hygiene practices is essential in a food business in order to protect your customers from food poisoning and other foodborne illnesses. However, this can be difficult to do in a retail environment such as a supermarket where people are able to handle food items directly. This means that, if you are working for a food retail business, you must abide by your employer’s food hygiene practices in order to ensure that the food you produce and sell is safe to consume and free from anything that could cause harm.
As a food handler, it is vital that you are trained in preparing food safely, handling food correctly, and maintaining good food hygiene standards to protect your customers' health and safety. Also, receiving training in food hygiene is important for your continuing professional development and required to comply with food hygiene legislation, such as the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 and the Food Safety Act 1990.
This food hygiene level 2 certificate provides learners with the knowledge they need to maintain good food hygiene and safety practices at work, and is suitable for anyone working in the retail industry such as:
We offer tailored food hygiene courses for the catering and manufacturing industries which are more relevant to those working in other environments.
Retail businesses are often hectic environments that are required to deal with unique challenges, such as stock rotation issues caused by customers leaving food items in incorrect locations. As a result of this, it is important that good food hygiene practices are implemented by management and maintained by staff members in these environments in order to prevent customers from becoming ill or experiencing harm.
