Manual handling injuries are one of the most common causes of injury at work, and account for nearly one third of all reported accidents.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 were introduced to help minimise the risk from manual handling operations. A requirement of these regulations is that employees are suitably informed and capable of performing manual handling operations.
This is a general awareness course designed to satisfy the training and awareness requirements of relevant legislation and regulations, including L23 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. It also meets the requirements of CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine, Exor and other SSIP registrations plus HSE safety training requirements.
This course is ideal for office workers, warehouse staff, delivery drivers, construction site and factory assembly workers, and anybody involved in any sort of manual handling operation. Once a basic manual handling safety awareness is achieved it may need supplementing with site-specific or task-orientated training that takes place in-person.
Moving and handling people is a specific skill so, while this course would be a good starting point, further training specific to that task will be required. For more information on this, consider exploring our Patient Moving and Handling course, which is designed for those that regularly move people in health and care environments.
Meets the requirements of HSE, CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine, Exor, SMAS and other SSIPs.
This online manual handling/moving and handling awareness course will help organisations meet their legal obligations and provide candidates with a thorough awareness of the dangers associated with manual handling operations and the management and control measures required to control the risks.

Successful candidates will receive a RoSPA Assured/CPD Certificate and 0.5 CPD Credits.
The Manual handling awareness certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for any health and safety training. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend most re-training is done every 3 years.
All of our courses, systems and services have been registered to the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. Quality Management Systems Ltd (QMS) made this prestigious award to Commodious in January 2018. This gives assurance that the training and assessment was completed with a quality registered organisation.
This e-learning course only provides awareness education. Face to face training may be needed in addition in order to complete the all round skills and knowledge to be able to carry this forward practically in some organisations.
