Confined Spaces - Course Objectives

This online course will help organisations meet their legal obligations and provide candidates with a thorough awareness of the dangers associated with working in confined spaces and the management and control measures required to control the risks.

After completing the course, candidates will:

• Identify what constitutes a confined space, how to get confined space permits;
• Have knowledge of the most common risks associated with working in confined spaces;
• Understand how to carry out a basic risk assessment for working safely in a confined space.
• Understand the requirements of, and how to put together, a safe system to work in relation to confined spaces;
• Know when to use breathing apparatus.
• Understand the requirements of effective emergency procedures.

Confined Spaces - Course Structure

The course comprises 1 interactive module and a final assessment. Links to recommended reading and additional resources may be provided within the training modules. These links are not mandatory and will not be tested for in the final assessment.

Confined Spaces Training - Duration

It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.

Confined Spaces Course - Assessment

All candidates must complete a multiple choice assessment after working through the training material. The candidate will be asked 16 multiple choice questions, randomly chosen from a larger question pool, and need to answer a minimum of 12 correctly to pass. Candidates will be given instant feedback after completing the assessment stating whether they have passed or failed. The assessment can be re-taken as many times as is required to pass at no additional cost.

Successful candidates will receive a IIRSM Certificate and 0.5 CPD Credits.

This online course only provides safety awareness education. Additional skills training may be required to use this knowledge practically in your organisation. The certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for any health and safety training. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend most re-training is done every 3 years.

If you do not know all the learner details - no problem, you can return later and create the learners when it suits you.

The system automatically creates an admin group of your learners, this means you can access your learner accounts to obtain certificates or schedule reports on the progress of your group, useful for Health & Safety audits or Registration to organisations such as CHAS, SMAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine etc or site access when certificates are required.
