This RQF Level 1 course on health & safety in construction has been designed for learners working in - or wanting to work in - the construction industry. It is a lifetime qualification and never has to be renewed - meaning you only ever have to do it once.

Take the first step towards a CSCS Green Card with this package. It includes learning material designed to prepare you for the RQF Level 1 Qualification exam and a seat for the remote invigilated online exam.

The qualification can be used to apply for a CSCS Labourer Card (aka CSCS Green Card) and is  great preparation for step 2 - sitting the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives.

Most employers will require evidence that employees can work on a construction site safely. A CSCS Labourer Card is recognised throughout the UK as proof that a worker has knowledge of the key principles of health and safety that they need.

Construction sites are by no means the safest places to work in. However, training in health and safety principles helps to avoid accidents and keep workers safe.

  • Knowledge of common hazards and risks in a construction environment
  • Safe manual handling practices
  • Working safely at height
  • Working safely around plant and machinery
  • The importance of effective teamwork and communication in ensuring safe working practices are followed in the construction industry

Course for CSCS Card FAQs

A CSCS Labourer Card (aka a CSCS green card) is valid for 5 years. It cannot be renewed and once it runs out you must reapply.

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme will tell you there is no such thing as the CSCS test. However:

  • The RQF Level 1 course and online test we offer costs £99 + VAT.
  • In addition, the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives costs £22.50.

You must pass both of these before you can apply for a CSCS card.

CSCS green cards cannot be renewed. They are valid for five years and then you must apply for a new one.

Each application costs £36.

The type of card you need depends on your qualifications and your employment. To find out more about the CSCS card types, read this article.

There are no plans to scrap the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. It is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry.

Whilst it is not a legal requirement to hold a card, many sites will refuse you entry to work if you do not have a valid card of the right type.

You can follow the steps above to apply for a CSCS card online which will be posted to your address on successful application.

Card status can be checked online via the CITB website. Alternatively, download the my CSCS app from Google Play or the App Store to check it on your phone.
